The main gate to the city. This stone entrance had special stones with holes protruding from the wall (on the other side) to allow the door to be secured against forced entry. The stone path going from the door to the left is the end of the Inca Trail which goes over 25 miles towards Cusco and the Sacred Valley. It is considered one of the best backpacking trips in the world. Bill and Donna would love to go back and hike that trail.
