Labor Day 2002 was a warm, cloudy day. We had decided to finally hike Old Rag in the Shenandoah National Park. It's a tough hike. The distance is nearly 9 miles. That would be hard enough but you climb 2,600 feet. Which again would be definitely hard enough except that the last 1000 feet is over trecherous boulders and rock formations! We were checking it out as a possible Adventurequest trip with our friend Nicki.
